Black Adam is back!
Okay, let’s admit, we were all worried that this Black Adam might actually be Shazam. For all we know, he’s dead already, so why is he hanging around in Forever Evil #1 and various promotional arts? Also, Shazam was corrupted the towards the end of Trinity War, so it’s a big chance this Black Adam is actually Shazam. Well, I’m glad that’s not the case and they resurrected Black Adam instead.
The issue doesn’t retell the origin story that was already told before. Instead, it focuses on the current state of Kahndaq, and how much they need their ancient protector. Aside from his bloody, merciless methods, Black Adam really cares about his people. The issue sets up great for the future to come. Black Adam encourages freedom, and Crime Syndicate is taking the world as their own.
Also, it’s interesting to see the New 52 appearance of Amon and Adriana. These two characters are Osiris and Isis before the New 52, and it’s possible to see them become that again? Big maybe?
Great issue. Can’t wait to see what’s to come.
