It might truly be something amazing.
Yes, we’re having another X-Men book. I mean, can you really have enough of X-Men? Especially one that deals with the return of Nightcrawler? The answer is no, we can never have enough of X-Men. It definitely helps when the series has great story that have us asking for more.
Amazing X-Men might be a new series, but it’s the first to deal with the aftermath of Battle of the Atom. We addressed to the fact that Kitty left Jean Grey School, and now they have Firestar to replace her as the new teacher. This might not seem like a lot, but it’s an acknowledgement that the crossover event done a number on our characters, Mentioning Firestar, she really needs to be doing more than standing around and flirting with Iceman. Just because she’s a replacement for Kitty, doesn’t mean she has to be a replacement of Kitty.
The Bamfs have been around for a long time. While it’s clear that they have something to do with Nightcrawler, it’s great to see that finally happening. The little creatures are cute, and I can’t wait to see how the two are related other than appearance.
And finally, it’s great to see Nightcrawler again after all these years. He’s one of my favorite X-Men, and I can’t wait to see him being part of the team again.
My only problem with the issue is the strange sexual tensions between characters. Wolverine and Storm, Iceman and Warbird, Iceman and Firestar. It feels like the characters are just overly horny for no reasons at all, and it’s annoying to read it. It almost feel like Scott Lobdell wrote it or something. Yep, I said it.
